LY/YL  FURNACE  FOR  ACTIVATED  CARBON

NOTE:  Built on site and all the labor cost, electrical work, building permits and all other installations are the responsibilities of Buyer.

The Company (supplier) will dispatch technical person to direct and supervise the building of this furnace.

LY/YL  Furnace was designed to manufacture activated carbon with carbonized Coconut or Palm Kernel Shells.  This furnace will also work good with coal or coal formed materials in cylindrical pellets or spherical shapes in the sizes of 5-10 mm in diameter.  It is preferred that carbonized materials with volatile matters of 12-18% be fed as raw material, however, the furnace will work with raw materials which have lower or higher volatile percentage as well.

When compared to other types of furnaces, it has less moving mechanism and thus has less chance of breaking down.  More economical to acquire and easier to run.  It has been proven that the furnace requires no added heat source.  It relies on the volatile matters in the carbon to maintain the temperature and to generate the steam which is essential for activation.  For those who do not have material with the right amount of volatiles, WINFIELD can supply a pellet burner at minimal cost which will help maintain the heat.

There are 3 other popular types of furnaces in the world which are used to activate carbon:

A.  Multiple Hearth Furnace (MHF),  B.  "SLIP" Furnace which is mostly used in China, and C. Rotary Kiln.

A.  MULTIPLE HEARTH FURNACE (MHF)     This type of furnace is mostly built in the USA and Europe.  Few are built in South Korea and Japan as well.   Normally,  this type of furnace are expensive to acquire and build.  Price for a small furnace which can produce a decent quality A/C at a rate of 1,000 TPY would run well over one million U.S. Dollars.

B.  "SLIP" Furnace:  This type of furnace is commonly used in China.  It is good and effective but building one outside of China would be difficult and expensive.  The weight of bricks and concrete alone used in this type of furnace exceeds 1000 metric tons.  Building and operating it would require technicians with special training.  On top of it, when not handled properly,  this furnace gets plugged up fairly easily after just one year in operation.  Building one in China would cost US$500,000 or more not counting the accessories. Building one outside of China can easily double this figure.

C.  Rotary Kiln    Quite a few active carbon manufacturers use a very simple refractory brick lined rotary kiln to produce activated carbon.  Cost for this type of simple rotary kiln is quite reasonable, normally they would be about US$100,000 in China, without refractory brick lining.  When lined & adding a steam generator, one can expect the price tag to get up to US$250,000 for a medium size kiln.  However, in our opinion, this type of kiln does not produce good enough product.   Also, the rotation of the carbon inside the kiln turns a lot of the

material into fines, therefore, the yield of the product is smaller when compared to the two types of furnaces mentioned above.   The weak area for this type of kiln is that it is difficult to insulate and have monitors mounted to read temperature correctly.  On top of that, the activation zone for this type of kiln is rather short which makes it less effective.   There are Rotary Kilns which are much bigger and well fitted but those systems

cost a lot more.

In comparison, LY/YL Furnace has the following advantages:

1.  Our furnace is an upright design and would take up less ground.

2.  It is a lot lighter than the "SLIP" furnace, therefore, shipping cost is reasonable.

3.  Very well insulated so that more than 90% of the heat goes to activation and generating steam.

4.  Easy to build.  From start to finish, one of our SGL or DBL models can be built and start to work within 60 days.

5.  Less "Moving Parts", therefore, less chance of breaking down.

6.  Well designed.   Activation gases to come in contact with the substrate being activated intimately.  As a matter of fact, the activation gases is designed to go through the carbon pile and react with the substrate continuously. In other words "HIGHER EFFICIENCY".

7.  Product come out of the furnace already cooled so you can handle it with ease.  Saves money on equipment and man-power for cooling product.

8.  We train your laboratory and operating staff for FREE.  Our price to include training of one(1) laboratory and one(1) furnace technician.

9.  Reasonably priced.

LY/YL SGL MODEL is US$388,000.00 (1200 TPY RATED). FOB Xingang/Qingdao, China

 LY/YL DBL MODEL is US$588,000.00 (2000 TPY RATED).   "          "           "           "
